New cabin brand marks new chapter in passenger experience with Airbus

The yearly Aircraft Interiors Expo returned to Hamburg at the beginning of April for the largest exhibition of the latest trends in aircraft interiors. More than 1,000 airline customers, 530 cabin interior suppliers and about 14,000 attendees attended this increasingly influential and popular event.

This year was especially key for Airbus at the Expo as we unveiled our new cabin brand, ‘Airspace by Airbus’. At the heart of this new philosophy, Airbus connects passenger wellbeing with the optimization of operational performance for its airline customers. Representing the best in Airbus cabin innovation and design, Airspace offers a sophisticated and flexible canvas for airlines to project and enhance their own brands.  Airbus also launched the new cabin for the forthcoming A330neo airliner, which embodies ‘Airspace by Airbus’ and is inspired by the cabin of its widebody sibling – the A350 XWB – which is already in service.

“Airspace by Airbus” encompasses four key pillars: Comfort, Ambience, Service and Design. Airspace cabins will be more relaxing, inspiring, beautiful and functional.  Integrating the very latest in LED technology ambient lighting, straight lines and shapes for a greater impression of space, clear surfaces, hygienic and contemporary lavatories and a unique, customizable welcome area, Airspace provides a unique, class-leading passenger experience. Passengers will also appreciate the larger overhead storage bins which will be 66 percent larger than those found on today’s A330s. As on the A350 XWB, A330neo passengers will appreciate fourth-generation IFE, with HD viewing resolution and discrete electronic boxes which provide unobstructed under-seat legroom.

Overall, the subtle and sophisticated Airspace design language showcased in the A330neo and A350 XWB – and which will be infused progressively to the other Airbus families – is unmistakably ‘Airbus’. The signature details and iconic elements consistently recognizable throughout the cabin will add to passengers’ enjoyment of the flight.
